I wasn't born fearless. I got scared, a lot — moving alone to the Netherlands, then landing in Thailand as an exchange student with no idea what to expect. Both times I went anyway, and both times it turned into one of the best decisions I've made. Currents & Journeys exists because of that — to show other people that the fear doesn't have to be the thing that stops them.

Egypt
Most freedivers train between courses. I hadn't trained or practiced in two years — then walked into the next level course anyway, with zero preparation. I hit a wall at 19 metres, and broke through to 25 on the very last day at Dahab's Blue Hole. Afterwards, at the "Local Maldives," it turned out I had enough air left to sing underwater — apparently that's exactly what it takes to get a dolphin's attention, because next thing I knew, we were spinning together.
